In one word, nitpicky. Everything has to be just so. And boring. You can tell that from reading my blog anyway.

Remembered another one! Automagically!

Chanda Ek, Taarein Anek

Anyone remember those cute animated mini-films (usually with a moral lesson) that used to air on Doordarshan a long long time ago? Films Division has an archive of these films. I re-lived 'Ek, Anek aur Ekta' after a long time :-) Now I am trying to track down a couple more of my favorites - 'Tree of Unity' & 'Swimmy'.

Life in a cubicle

Sitting in a cubicle in a relatively quiet office makes one privy to a variety of sounds from the neighboring cubes. Like the constant crunch of tortilla chips during lunchtime. That has got to be one of the most annoying sounds that I have ever had the privilege of hearing. And insensitive people having long, loud phone conversations. Please, go get thee into a conference room.

Word fusion

Lately, I've been fascinated with portmanteau words. These words started off innocently enough with 'smog' ('smoke' + 'fog'), 'brunch' ('breakfast' + 'lunch'), 'chortle' ('chuckle' + 'snort'). Lewis Carroll infamously coined several in his works.

So, here are some selections from the IT world:
'guesstimate' ('guess' + 'estimate')
'mathlete' ('mathematical' + 'athlete')
'netiquette' ('net' + 'etiquette')

And here's one I coined when N's company offered him stock options (in lieu of a salary raise): 'soptions' ('sop' + 'options'). Heh heh.

Martina's new avatar

Martina Navaratilova should stick to the white skirts and white shirts from her tennis days. Came across this horrific picture that is best left unseen, but somehow you know you have to see it. Go on, click that link. Go on, I dare you.

Blog This!

Ok, I am now an official blogger. The inspiration was in the form of my dear sibling whose blog is one of the funniest I have read. Who knew he would turn out to be such a good writer! But more on that later.

Watch this space for exciting news from the world of the average eye.

That name, by the way, is a pun. A 100 points to whoever figures it out.
